Clippings, correspondence, brochures, typescripts, invitations and other memorabilia trace the career of Lieutenant Colonel Earl Hoag and with it much early history of American aviation. Includes Miami High School student yearbook (Miahi 1914); a wealth of aviation clippings for 1917-1921; with much information on the 1919 transcontinental air race during which 10 out of 39 pilots were killed.

Folder 5-6: Papers of pilot Henry Fustic include flight information procedures, training manuals, scheduling policies and othe information for pilots.

Financial records of Pitcairn Aviation, Eastern Air Transport and Eastern Air Lines between 1926 and 1936 make up the bulk of the collection. Also included are board minutes, correspondence and personnel directories; civic activities scrapbooks, advertising artwork and personnel uniform sketches, newsletters, photographic prints and video and film recordings. These records represent only a portion of Eastern's holdings, as some were retained by the company or given to other institutions

Eastern Airlines, inc

The records include photographs of aircraft in various stages of  construction and others under consideration for purchase such as the Concorde. Other images show flight attendants, pilots and other airlines personnel. Documents include; printed copies of contracts between Eastern Airlines Inc. and the Air Line Pilots, guides for flight attendants and navigational manuals and blueprints of aircraft interiors. There are several issues of newsletters specific to Eastern Airlines personnel including Repartee from The Retired Eastern Pilots Association, others are aircraft industry related, but none include a full run. Ephemera include marketing and advertising materials such as fold-out planes, logos, brochures and a copy of "Sunrise at Eastern". A scrapbook of photographs and mementos compiled by flight attendants in training at the Miami Springs Villas and Hotel chronicle their training and social life at the hotel. Another scrapbook, compiled by Clunet Lewis, Manager in St. Louis, Missouri includes newspaper clippings and correspondence regarding Eastern and general airlines services in the St. Louis area.

The Atkinson papers contain papers, photographs and newspaper clippings of Judge Edith Atkinson's career and civic activities during the 1920s-1930s. The materials covering the decades after the 1930s are either personal or from the Girls Scouts, updating her on progress within the council. Included in the collection are papers of her husband, Judge Henry F. Atkinson.

Collection includes copies of the "Florida Outdoor Guide," published by the Miami Herald Publishing Company;  Metropolitan Miami Fishing Tournament yearbooks; Miami Beach Rod and Reel Club yearbooks; a copy of the rules and regulations for the Miami Beach Rod and Reel Club; and Capt. Andy McLean's "Fishing Mate."

Scrapbooks of clippings include the question-and-answer format Column with a Hart; the Glamor Clinic series; and general articles written by Eleanor Hart as a Miami Herald staff columnist. There are a few letters from individuals and organizations, usually thanking Miss Hart for help with a project. During these years people were moving to South Florida from other states in great numbers, and the columns include much advice on adjusting to life in a new community, as well as providing a clear reflection of contemporary social standards for women

The papers consist of correspondence, memos, reports, photographic prints, magazines and newspaper clippings, and relate primarily to Mrs. Virrick's extensive involvement in housing and urban issues in Coconut Grove and Miami-Dade County, and of her interest on a national level. Includes material on the founding and evolution of the Coconut Grove Citizens for Slum Clearance and the Citizens Advisory Committee and other boards on which she served.

Mrs. Virrick corresponded extensively with government officials and other influential people. Correspondents include Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Claude Pepper, Lawton Chiles, Rubin Askew, Dante Fascell, and Maurice Ferre.

The magazines and newspaper clippings were originally interfiled with the papers, but have been boxed separately for conservation purposes.

In 2015, Dr. Raymond Mohl donated an additional 14 boxes of documents to the collection.  The bulk of the documents are part of Elizabeth Virrick’s original papers and cover the same topics and years as the original donation. The rest are copies of newspaper clippings and articles from the same time period that Dr. Mohl added and annotated.  Dr. Raymond Mohl, a leading urban historian, was given access to the papers by Mrs. Virrick for his research on housing for African Americans in postwar Miami. This research was the basis for several articles and books on civil rights, housing and race relations in Miami, including, Elizabeth Virrick and the "concrete monsters”: housing reform in postwar Miami (Tequesta, no. 61, 2001).

The 2015 accural is housed in boxes 15 to 29. Box 29 holds materials that Dr. Mohl continued to collect up to 2001. It includes several drafts of Elizabeth Virrick and the "concrete monsters" : housing reform in postwar Miami for various publications, newspaper clippings on housing issues, a student paper on Virrick, notes, correspondence and annotated articles.

Includes typescripts of two books: Osceola changes, and A Woman set apart; typescripts of articles and often the magazine issues in which the articles appeared; news clippings and other background research materials.  Most material is about Florida, especially Dade County; other areas include the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Subjects with strong coverage include native American groups in Florida, treasure hunting, and well known local individuals

Research, including photographic prints and negatives, on Dade County and South Florida, particularly: Miami River, Dade County Schools, South Florida archaeology, Tropical Audubon Society, Arch Creek and local designation reports and National Register nominations.

Arch Creek papers Include applications to the National Register of Historic Places Inventory; for a Dade County Historic Site designation; and for a state archaeological site listing. Also includes photocopies of reports by Robert Carr and Dan D. Laxson. A substantial though unsorted collection of editorials, news articles and other writings document several attempts to save the property for public use; the establishment of a park and museum, and efforts to restore the area's native vegetation.
