Chiefly copies of documents and newspaper articles. Also include maps, photographs and ephemera. Topical and biographical files of note include; Bernando Benes, Jose Aleman, Howard Hughes, the Miami News Freedom Tower, Miami Senior High School, the Yarmouth Castle ship disaster, and the voyage of the St. Louis.

Diary is a lively and detailed account of a young girl's family and social life in early Miami. Scrapbooks are unarranged: one holds pictures clipped from magazines and some photographic prints; the other has loose material including poetry by Fannie Clemons and typed transcripts of letters with genealogical information on the Buswell and related families.

Elevations, renderings, plans, and details of houses, stores, churches, schools, office buildings, hotels, club houses, and apartments. Many of the drawings are notable for their draftsmanship. Structures represented in these drawings were built in Belle Isle, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Ft. Lauderdale, Homestead, Key Largo, Miami, Miami Beach, Miami Shores, and Star Island.

Newspaper clippings, photographic prints, correspondence, postcards, greeting cards, legal documents and personal memorabilia pertain to Miami Area history and the history of the Huddleston family. The collection is particularly rich in vivid handwritten descriptions and newspaper obituaries of Miami pioneers who died in the 1950s. Also included are newspaper accounts of historic buildings and personalities, as well as the social activities of members of pioneer families, and of the meetings of the Miami Pioneers group.

Scrapbook marked "Finished 1955" in Box 6 has much of the Huddleston family material, including Farmer City, Illinois, newspaper clippings.

Collection covers committee, agency and individual writings on the Everglades, the Biscayne aquifer, Lake Okeechobee, Biscayne Bay, urban growth and farming impacts on water resources, saltwater intrusion, flood control, and related water issues. Other material included: South Florida (later Variety, now Miami) Children's Hospital under construction; a 1960 plan to revitalize Miami's downtown business district, and a 1976 Dade County Public Schools report.

Maps, charts, oversized pamphlets pertaining to water control in southeast Florida, 1940-1970s

The Burdines records document the company’s unique place in Florida’s retail history.  Organized by subject headings are: newsletters, company documents, manuals and guides, photographs, scrapbooks and catalogs of Burdines’s sponsored community events, newspaper clippings, brochures illustrating advertising campaigns, and papers pertaining to rehabilitative measures taken by community leaders following the 1980 riot in Miami.

The bulk of the holdings date from the 1960s through the 1970s. With the exception of a volume on financing and construction in 1938, there is little pertaining to the company prior to the acquisition by Federated Department Stores. Also included are some scrapbooks and other references to the Jordan Marsh stores, which became part of Federated in 1991.

Over the years, several variations on the name Burdines have been used by the store.  Except for folder headings using a variation of the name in the container list, the name Burdines is used through this document.

Articles and advertising pieces illustrated with photographs shot by Romer. Most are newspaper clippings, tear sheets and advertisments from local, state and national publications. Depicts scenic and social images of Miami and South Florida, dwellings and communities for real estate pieces, and images for product advertising and feature stories. Clients include Burdine's (department store), and Bay Point (subdivision development) on Biscayne Boulevard.

Articles, brochures and pamphlets containing reproductions of photography by Fisher. Most of the images were shot in Miami and illustrate advertisements and articles for various magazines.

Slides of travel by cruise ships around the Caribbean and Key West. Excursions were made to the Netherlands Antilles, the Bahamas, St. Lucia and the Grenadines, St. Croix, the U. S. Virgin Islands and Key West. Also include views of Everglades National Park, the Port of Miami, Miami and Miami Beach. A set records a trip aboard the Windjammer Barefoot Cruises schooner, Fantome.
