Images show the early twentieth-century construction of the Florida Keys Overseas Railway. Contains images showing some of the 4000 workers employed by the project, including African American worker and interior views of the camps constructed to house them, including Boca Chica camp, Long Key Fishing camp, and Quarry Camp. Image shows the building of the railway infrastructure and roadbed, as well as the technology used during its construction.

Biographical research pertaining to the achievements and contributions made by notable women in various professional fields in the South Florida community for the books Julia's Daughters and Beyond Julia's Daughters. Materials include nomination forms, photographs, resumes, newspaper clippings, articles, obituaries and other supporting documents.

Women of Impact: Photographic portraits of women who received Women of Impact awards from 1989-2006. The 16 x 20, black-and-white photographs were displayed during Women's History Month (March) of the year of the award. The portraits include politicians, educators, social services volunteers and professionals, journalists, authors, philanthropists, and others. Many of the women were the first in a given position, and/or have been involved in a project affecting women.

Photographers were Susan Randall, Peggy Nolan, Sheila de Lemos, Debra Lex, Fran Bitett Beck, Meg Beaty, Chieko Tanemura, and Tami Crupi.

This collection documents the lives of the Cates Family from 1919 to 1946.Their story is told through photographs, correspondences, purchases, receipts, and business records. Much of the collection centers on the life of the daughter, Alice, as a teenager and adult. This includes photographs of the Buena Vista School, Miami High School and locations visited by her friends and family including Key Biscayne, Virginia Key, The Venetian Pools, and Hialeah Racetrack. Further insight into her daily life including work and romantic interests can be found in her correspondences and school materials. References to the Health Crusade- a response to the Spanish Flu, Armistice Day, the Depression, and World War II can be found throughout Alice's materials. Denis Cates' work as a coconut exporter in Miami, along with his property in Cape Sable, can be found in the business records and receipts. Dennis, his wife Elmira, along with his children Alice, Samuel and Henry can be found in the family photographs. Their home, Model-T, Sharpie boat, and Miami apartment can also be found here.
