Florida-resident Harvey R. Zipkin has been working as a photographer since the early 1960s. He began his career in New York, where he attended Hofstra University and took professional courses in photography at the School of Visual Arts. Influenced by European photographers of the 1950s, he aims to document life "the way we live it." In addition to teaching photography at Jose de Diego Middle School, Zipkin is the resident artist at Bakehouse Art Complex in Miami.

The photographs document the remaining Hispanic and African American communities of Wynwood, as the area becomes increasingly gentrified.
