This collection consists of almost all of the Shayne novels, often in successive editions with varying cover art, as well as a long run of the Shayne magazine from the 1950s to the 1980s.  The collection could be important to researchers because of the long, forty-year span of publication and the ways in which the novels and the magazine reflected changing times in Miami and South Florida.

Among the records are minutes, financial documents, charters and by-laws, lease and insurance records, newspaper clippings, correspondence, event programs and other ephemera, bond stub books, and scrapbooks. Tax records, invoices, newsletters, board information, and data relating to ownership and maintenance of the clubhouse and marina dockage are also included.

Of particular value to genealogists and other researchers are the membership lists and applications which detail the family histories of early Miami residents.
