Scope and content

Album compiled by Davis as a record of his projects. Includes photographs, newspaper clippings, and tear sheets documenting his career as a commercial and residential building contractor in New York, Florida and Los Angeles. Most of the projects featured were completed by his company, S. C. Davis Construction Company, Inc., in Miami Beach. Several were photographed by commercial photographer William Fishbaugh.

Davis’ career began around 1915 with the construction of apartment buildings in New York City. He operated his company for several years between New York and Miami before joining the Taylor Company as Director of Projects after serving as their project manager for the Dupont Plaza Building in Miami. Davis later headed Taylor’s Los Angeles office.
