Family patriarch W. H. Combs owned the W. H. Combs Company, which was one of the largest undertaking establishments in the south. Mr. Combs was married to Lorena Jaudon, sister of Capt. James F. Jaudon, who was responsible for the construction of the Tamiami Trail linking Tampa and Miami.
